ReCreate are delighted to be running two accredited Summer Continuous Professional Development courses in 2017.
“Teaching through the visual arts using Creative Reuse” will allow the participants to rediscover the possibilities of creative teaching using everyday materials normally discarded, enhancing creativity, fostering invention and curiosity while increasing the capacity for teaching.
The dates of each course are as follows:
3rd to 7th July 2017 ( 10am-Noon, 1-3pm)
14th to 18th August 2016 ( 10am-Noon, 1-3pm)
By participating in this course, ReCreate will aim:
•To introduce the role of the arts & creativity as contained in Aistear/ The Early Childhood Curriculum Framework and the Primary School curriculum.
•To demonstrate the possibilities of incorporating the 5 visual arts strands, Drawing, paint & colour, print, fabric & fibre and construction into the Primary Curriculum.
•The course will highlight how the visual arts can be implemented throughout all subjects in the Primary curriculum.
•To demonstrate the advantages of Creative Reuse in the classroom. The tutor will highlight where the materials came from and what can be done with them with regards to promoting awareness of the environment while at the same time encouraging open ended play and creativity in children via creative reuse.
•To upskill the participants’ creative teaching practice through the visual arts.
•The course will be a dynamic, hands on, practical course which aims to instill confidence and understanding of the visual arts in the learner while working on a budget. This course will unfold the contemporary and traditional arts pertaining to Aistear and the Primary school curriculum, including drawing, painting, printing, fabric/ fibre, clay and construction and the role of the environment in supporting play and creativity in the classroom.
•To enhance self-development and mental health by stimulating play, curiosity, imagination and out-of-the-box thinking in children and teachers.
