Somehow it is June already! How did that happen? We hope you have had the opportunity to enjoy the sunshine and being outdoors at a socially safe distance! When we think of summer at ReCreate we think of outdoor creative events and the one that really kicks off our summer is Cruinniú na nÓg!
We are delighted to be working with Creative Ireland and South Dublin County Council again this summer for Cruinniú na nÓg, a free nationwide day of creativity for children and young people, taking place on Saturday 13th June.
This year’s event is going to be quite different to our usual face to face, outdoor event in Corkagh Park, Dublin. Our original plans (and marquee!) were shelved some weeks back due to the pandemic, so we went back to the drawing board to come up with a virtual version for you all. Although initially a daunting prospect, we quickly threw ourselves into brainstorming, collaborating, planning and really enjoying the process of developing our exciting online version of Cruinniú na nÓg!
We are very excited to announce that ReCreate’s Cruinniú na nÓg 2020 campaign is called Seek & Gather. Building on the success of our Creative Corner and Creative Shed Workshop series, we are inviting families from all over Ireland to join us on ReCreate social channels to seek and gather reuse materials from around your home, wherever you may be, in the lead up to our broadcast on www.facebook.com/CruinniuSD www.instagram.com/CruinniuSD @CruinniuSD at 11am on 13th June.
As we cannot be with you in person in Corkagh Park this year, our Cruinniú Clue Campaign is our way of bringing us together, by interacting and integrating as much human interaction as possible, within the online realm. The silver lining of this being, by facilitating it this way, we can now have people from all over Ireland involved!
The series of Seek & Gather clues for (2-5yrs) & (6-12yrs) age groups will be revealed online from today, 3rd June. On Friday 12th June we will recap all ingredients and reveal what the two Seek & Gather workshops will, be so you can be fully prepared and ready to recreate the next day. Our Creative Facilitator Jo May will host both workshops from 11am in our ReCreate Cruinniú na nÓg summer garden, to explore creative ideas with reuse materials.
We cannot wait to see your guesses to the clues, see what materials you gather, not to mention what you create in the workshops!
We hope you enjoy!
